So we do FHE pretty regularly around here. But it tends to be boring and FAST. So we have recently recommitted to doing more meaningful, fun family home evenings. Our first one was so good. We each had an index card with our name on it and then we passed it around and each person in the family wrote something nice on the card including ourselves. Afton was asleep and Keri was just having fun watching us, so they did not participate in this particular activity. But it was fun. Here are the results: Read the rest of this entry »

Here are the happenings of August 21-31:
-Last A’s game of the season. Scott, Alix and Milo went with our neighbors Laurant, Sophie and Emillie.
-While they were at the A’s the rest of us went to a wedding reception. SO MUCH FUN! Thanks Shanna!!
-Scott and Sami both donated blood
-More swimming w/friends. Thanks again Laura and Carrie!!
-End of summer primary activity and bbq. It was a lot of fun and so low key. I love those kind of parties.
-Watched a few extra kids for a couple of days so their mom could go with her friend to the American Idol try outs in San Francisco. Nope she didn’t make it but they sure had a good time!

That ends the review of fun things I wanted to remember that we did but I don’t have any pictures to go with the events. It’s so nice to get down in writing all the things that we’ve been doing lately. But don’t go anywhere. I’m not done yet….

Our friends the Bremer’s came to visit us August 18-20. It was a short visit but a wonderful one and one filled with lots of fun activities.

They got here the night of the 17 and put the kids right to bed. Our kids were already in bed and so the adults stayed up and talked for a few hours. That was super fun! Read the rest of this entry »

With mom gone, Sara is all alone in Fresno. She has friends and she has the ward, but family is always nice to be around. So we’ve arranged that she will come once a month for about 5 days. Her first visit was August 10-14. She came so she could be here for Alix’s birthday and that was nice to have her here. Read the rest of this entry »

Alix celebrated her 9th birthday on August 12. It was such a wonderful day for us all. My sister was here and that helped to make the day even more special for Alix. Scott took Alix and Sara to breakfast. Sara had never been to Google before so it was a wonderful experience for her. She was honored to share Alix’s special time with her. After I picked them up we ran a few last minute errands and then back home. We spent the afternoon getting things ready for the party in the evening. Read the rest of this entry »

Here is the quick rundown of August 2-11:
-Piano that we just laid down money for broke again. Piano guy came back and fixed it for free. Whew!
-Swimming with friends! Yay, thanks Laura and Carrie!
-Beach with friends
-Scott going to the A’s game with the young women
-Bridal Shower for a wonderful young lady. Love you Shanna
-Going away party for a wonderful young man going on his mission. Go Chase!!
-Missionary going away talk for said missionary. Yay Chase!
-FHE with the new bishopric. So fun!
-My sister came to visit
-Activity days for Jaime and Alix

Fun few days. It felt good to be busy again. And yet I missed the calm that came with having nothing scheduled after my mom’s passing.

I’ve decided to rename my blog to Feast or Famine. That seems to be the trend this year. So here we are at a feast. Enjoy while you can for our lives are once again going to explode into a flurry of activity and being able to post will again cease….. Read the rest of this entry »
