For all you hot weather dwellers out there, it rained here today. It was an overcast morning, which is normal for the bay area. But instead of blowing off by 10 it rained. It was kinda nice to have a few sprinkles. It’s nice now with the sky clear a cool breeze and everything feeling fresh and clean after a rain. I don’t mind it one bit.
We have had a great week. We spent the first half of the week doing laundry, chores and phone calling. I did try and answer emails too. It was busy.
On Saturday morning, I gave blood then headed to the church for our semi annual kitchen cleaning. After 2.5 hours I left and came home. I did some cleaning, made Jaime’s baptism invitation and started dinner (but forgot to turn it on!!). At 1 I took a shower and headed over to Joey and Gayles. Gayle was doing a catering job for 400 people. It was the temple pageant crew. It was a huge job but very enjoyable. We served dinner at 6 and then set up snacks for a dance. We left the temple about 9pm. It is always fun to help out at catering jobs. I love it.
Sunday was “normal”. There was a fireside featuring The 5 Browns. For those of you who don’t know who they are, they are 5 brothers and sisters who all attended Juliard (sp?) for their piano playing. Now they tour all over and on Sunday’s they try and arrange firesides at the local wards (they will be in Vegas either August or September, I can’t remember now). Anyway, it was amazing. They are a very down to earth very funny family who can play piano quite well. They sing really good too. BYU television was there. They were video tapping people walking in the door. I might be on T.V.!!! :0) Anyway, it was a great fireside. Scott opted to stay home with the little ones. Good thing too, Jaime and Alix got a little tired toward the end. It didn’t get over till 9 pm.
Monday was another travel day for us. We scheduled a visit with Grandma Ackerman so she could help Jaime celebrate her birthday. Auntie Sara took Jaime to the store, then we baked a cake and later decorated it. We had a bbq of hotdogs with all the fix’ns and presents of course! We enjoyed naps and stories and good food and good company. Thanks mom and Sara for such a great time.
Tuesday and Wednesday were very low key. We stayed home and cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. We scrubbed from top to bottom, we organized, payed bills and tried to rid our home of clutter. It was only partially successful since I had three little kids right behind me messing it all up. The other two were in front of me trying to clean too. There is a cute young lady at church that is 18 and kinda floundering right now. She has picked us as her “hang out”. I’m ok with that since she has been helpful in keeping the kids happy and even helps with cleaning when she is here. She showed up on Tuesday with backpacks for all the kids filled with school supplies. The kids have been so happy they think it’s an early Christmas. It has been fun watching them play school and use their supplies. Niah’s backpack is as big as she is. It goes from the nape of her neck to her knees. It’s pretty cute.
“Normal” life has begun to feel normal again. The kids are back into routines and I have even managed a bit of a routine. I don’t feel totally back to my own life since I have been car less. It is taking us a while to decide what we should do about Scott’s car, so he is just using the van. All those mean things I’ve said about how ridiculous it is that people commute to work in really big cars and they are the only ones in the car, is a reality in my family now. Every negative thing I’ve ever said always comes back to haunt me. I need to work on being less judgemental!!
I hope to have a picture CD in the mail to everyone by Monday morning. Scott is putting together a website so that you will be able to see the pictures before you get the actual CD.
